For segment-driven LCDs with complex display content, a large number of segments, and a sizable screen size, only low-resistance glass can be used, resulting in slightly higher tooling costs and unit prices.

In industrial control applications, because the displayed content is extensive, the number of display segments required also increases substantially. The solution is to increase the screen size so that all the information can be accommodated on a single display, ensuring that operators can clearly monitor the operating status of the industrial equipment. Under such circumstances, it is necessary to use LCD panels based on low-resistance glass as the substrate material.

In terms of pricing, the manufacturing process for low-resistance segment-type LCDs is more costly than that for standard ITO glass substrates; consequently, the unit cost of segment-type LCDs is also relatively higher.
